Seventh edition - January 2006

New Year's celebrations 2006 - Sydney, NSW

Welcome to the first newsletter of 2006. We hope that you and your respective families had a festive holiday period. It's been a while since we've had a chance to put together a newsletter, so hopefully this one will prove useful.

The website to date has been filled with lots of useful information on setting up life in Australia and all sorts of other goodies related to the country itself. I thought it was about time that we started addressing some of the softer - yet very import - issues: such as dealing with a new pregnancy in Australia, child care, how to find out what's out there to entertain your kids and other family matters. In due course I hope to include other material that helped us settle into our new home (after all of the un-packing was done).

Luckily Australia is a very child and family friendly country with a lot of things on offer.

Regards,
Alice Cumming

So what's new on the site?

Because the amount of information is continually growing, we suggest that you first visit the "navigation tips" and "how we structured the information" sections. Hopefully this will make navigating the mass of information easier.

THE BASICS: we have included a map of the basic information structure to facilitate the navigation of this section.
  Family Matters section with:
Dealing with a pregnancy in Australia (options, costs, etc.)
     Early childhood centres
     Child care options
Is your child an Aussie? (Citizenship and passport queries answered)

Stay abreast of developments

A totally voluntary registration of your email address on the website will enable us to keep you informed of changes to the site. We will be sending out monthly newsletters very much like this one with some highlights and indexes into the information. Register if you want to receive the newsletter again. Otherwise just pop in every now and then and see the "what's new" section.
